Guests of War Series by Kit Pearson

Updated: Jan 7, 2022

This is an amazing series about two kids who are sent overseas to Canada to stay safe during the second world war. They stay with a family for five years, first adjusting to the new life, then discovering friends, romance, and school. This book brings up the question of what family really is. It is beautifully written as well as being full of meaning and relatable characters.

OVERALL RATING 9.6/10

For a long time this series was my all time favorite. I'm a bit older now, but it still holds a special place in my heart. The three top reasons I love it are that it is educational about the war, realistic, and diverse. The plot covers so many different areas and it creates a powerful and engaging story that anyone could enjoy.

CONS

Probably more interesting for girls, at least the second book, as it is kind of about a girl reaching puberty and becoming a teenager. Some boys would probably still enjoy it.
