Annemarie Johansen is living in Denmark in the middle of the second world war. Her best friend, Ellen, is Jewish, and soon it becomes very dangerous for Ellen's family in their town. They hear word that the Jews are planned to be 're-located', so that very night, Ellen's parents hide away and Ellen stays with Annemarie, posing as her sister. As the story continues, the elaborate plan to save Ellen's family (and many others) unravels.

OVERALL RATING 8.5/10
This is a pretty great book! It's a little bit short and the plot is quite simple, but I think it's a great read. The way the story unravels is really interesting, and it's amazing to know how much of it is actually real history.
PROS
Engaging
Well-written
Not overly complex
CONS
Some upsetting thematic elements, such as execution and re-locating Jewish people. These aren't described much, but they are mentioned. May be to upsetting for some younger or more sensitive readers.
A little simplistic and quite short, so not the best if you're looking for a full novel.
