OVERALL RATING 9/10
This book is hard to put down! Between the beautiful writing style, the slowly unfolding mystery of Mark's story, and the suspense of his life being on the line, I finished this book extremely quickly. The Honest Truth deals with difficult issues and prompts you to question your morals, while narrating an epic adventure. Definitely worth a read (if you want to sob for 229 pages straight, that is).
PROS Beautifully Written Very engaging Deals with important topics Makes you think! | Violence and Scariness 3/5 Boy terribly beaten by group of teens. Boy falls into a raging river, gets frostbite, and almost dies. Dog falls in mountain crevasse. Sex and Romance 0/5 Not present |
CONS VERY SAD!!! | Emotional Intensity 5/5 Boy with cancer is on a mission to die, what more do I need to say?? Dog almost dies, boy almost dies many times. Drinking and Drugs 1/5 People smoking. Mentions that mother drinks a bottle of wine every night. |
