This is a series of three books about a family living on a small island. The first two books are about Polly and her older sister Maud, who go to live on the island with their relatives after becoming orphans. While they stay there they discover a possibly vital secret about their father. The third book is the next generation of of kids on the same island, and a story of self discovery. These books are beautifully written and have wonderful plot.

OVERALL RATING 9.4/10
Although I don't think these are the absolute best Kit Pearson books, they still are quite remarkable. Every book has it's own unique and heartfelt plot, every character is realistic, and every story concludes well. I would suggest this for any kid to read.

CONS
Handles coming out as gay in a good way, but it is set in an old fashioned time. The thoughts of the child discovering her sexuality and the behaviors of the community are not as relevant as they may have once been.
