Fifteen year-old Emmylou has spent her life being dragged from town to town by her mother. Out of everywhere they have lived, though, Churchill is the worst. A small, secluded tourist town with an ever-looming threat of polar bears is the last place Emmylou wants to be. Things change when she befriends a local family and their team of sled dogs - could Emmylou have found a reason to stay?

OVERALL RATING 9/10
Feels real, breathtaking descriptions, well-researched
Though this book starts out very slow plot-wise, once the story got going I couldn't put it down. Every moment feels so real, from Emmylou's conflict with her mother to her first time in a dog sled. Körner's attention to detail leaves you with a breathtaking image of the Northern landscape and life. It is clear that this book was well-researched, and is a great educational opportunity on indigenous history in Canada.
