A Thousand Shades of Blue by Robin Stevenson

Updated: Jan 7, 2022

Rachel knows that her family is having issues, and she knows that the last thing they need is to be trapped on a sailboat together. Her parents, though, think that is a great idea, and they have decided to pull Rachel and her little brother Tim away from their home to go sailing for an entire year. Rachel feels stifled by her father's rules, and she is angry with her mother. When things really begin to fall apart, will Rachel's family learn to forgive each other?

OVERALL RATING 9.5/10

I think this is a great book! This is one of the very few YA novels I have read that I felt represented teenage girls well. I could relate to the main character, and her actions seemed very realistic. This is an honest, beautiful, and hopeful story about repairing family issues.
